Montreal sports photographer, Ahern Photos, your sports photographer of choice in Montreal, Canada. Capturing exceptional sporting moments with expertise and passion. Sports photographer, wedding, portraits, design

Professionalism, creativity and image quality. This is what it means to have specialized in photography for 20 years. After a career in cinema and book publishing where I worked mainly as a graphic designer. All this, after studying biological sciences and environmental design at university.

My years as a graphic designer slowly led me to take an interest in sports photography; sports photography has always fascinated me. I have developed a good experience in retouching illustrations as well as photos. Sports images, the most beautiful sports photos, have always attracted me. I started taking my photos with a small Canon PowerShot G5 camera. To take photos - and beautiful photos - in order to immortalize beautiful moments. Even before I was introduced to the profession of photographer, I was already an expert in photoshop, illustrator, form-z (3d software), with several other software and photo editing. Including the artistic direction.

If these experiences were a huge springboard where I could happily "dive" into photography; rules and concepts such as brightness, motion blur, motion blur, burst, taking into account the background, framing, shooting, post-processing and printing, were assimilated only more quickly. Both in color and in black-and-white. But the most important thing was to master the basics of depth of field, speed, aperture and ISO. But before sporting events, I started with contracts for portraits, weddings, design etc... In digital photography essentially.

My first accreditation in sports photography; Rogers Cup Tennis with Icon Sportwire. I started participating in a few sports; hockey, soccer, diving, speed skating etc... while continuing to do portraits, weddings, design etc... in studio photo or rental.

While still working as a freelance photographer, I later collaborated with USA Today Sports Images (Imagn) and Reuters. I continue to specialize in sports imagery by covering the Montreal Canadians hockey team, CF Montréal, Diving Canada, national and international championships and/or World Cups in speed skating (ISU), snowboarding (FIS; International Ski Federation), artistic gymnastics (FIG; International Gymnastics Federation), freestyle skiing (FIS), golf with the Canadian Open Championships (Golf Canada) etc... And I'm not talking about swimming, skateboarding, BMX, athletics, boxing, handball etc.

Photographing the best athletes in the world (Rafaël Nadal, Cole Caulfield or Aryna Sabalenka), surrounded by the best professional photographers is very rewarding. Covering and taking photos of volleyball and basketball competitions for the Montreal Carabins, albeit on a less professional level, is just as intoxicating. Whether it's for a simple shoot, a sporting activity or a major report, you have to know how to capture the movement, capture the best reactions and the celebrations at the right time. With a wide-angle, a standard zoom or a telephoto lens and as a result the different shots, we have good stands to witness great sporting moments. We have the right to the image with a capital "I"; We must take advantage of it. That said, a "historic" event will be held in Paris next year; the Olympic Games. What beautiful and extraordinary moments of photography! I have never done adapted sports, nor multi-sport as I have never played rugby; opportunities did not arise.

If you need an experienced photographer; Do not hesitate to contact me. Whether it is for a sporting event, for wedding photos, portraits, design etc., we can discuss it in order to meet your expectations.
